Assoc. Prof. Ezatullah ZAKI (IZZETULLAH ZEK)


Ezatullah ZAKI, an ethnic Uzbek Turk, was born in 1988 in Faryab Province, Afghanistan. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown, Kariz Qala. In 2004, he graduated from the Faryab Abu Muslim Khorasani High Madrasa. He completed his undergraduate studies in 2012 at the Faculty of Theology at Necmettin Erbakan University in Konya, Turkey. In 2014, he earned his master’s degree from the Institute of Social Sciences at the same university, in the Department of Islamic History and Arts/Islamic History, with a thesis titled “The Emergence of the Jadidism Movement and Its Impact on Turkestan Scholars: The Case of Mahmud Hoca Behbudi and Munawwar Qari.” In 2018, he completed his PhD in the Department of History at Necmettin Erbakan University with a dissertation titled “The Religious Policy of Ghaznavid Mahmud.” In 2020, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in the Department of the Life of the Prophet (Siyer-i Nebi) and Islamic History.

Between 2016 and 2017, he worked as a teacher at Konya İbrahim Ethem Girls Anatolian Imam Hatip High School under the Ministry of National Education. In July 2017, he began his academic career as a lecturer at the Faculty of Theology, Department of Islamic History and Arts at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor at the same institution.

Dr. Zaki has taught courses on Islamic History, Seljuk History and Civilization, Ottoman History and Civilization, and Persian Historical Texts. He is proficient in Persian, Arabic, Turkish (including Ottoman Turkish), English, and Uzbek Turkish (Chagatai).

Continuing his academic and scientific work, Dr. Zaki has authored seven books in Turkish, contributed to 12 book chapters, and published 24 articles. He has participated in over 20 national and international symposiums and congresses and has served as an advisor to seven TÜBİTAK 2209-A supported projects. izzetullahzeki@yahoo.com
